However, River is perfect for the Doctor because she challenges him and has a realistic view of him. She doesn't rely on him much, which is exactly what he needs because he has enough shit going on in his life. Rose was too squishy and Martha, though slightly less so, was still kind of weak. River is just so awesome and so perfect for him and I'm fangirling so hard right now.
That was probably pretty unintelligible. Hopefully you could sorta kinda understand, even though I'm kind of half asleep right now.
I could NOT agree more with you. I feel that I used to love Rose and the Doctor as a kid, but I grew up and...I dunno. I didn't see it anymore. I didn't like Rose either. I guess she was just revealed as the chav she always was
But River...What a fantastic character she is, and match for the Doctor. Not just on a mental level, on every level. Like you said, River's view is realistic. The others (maybe spare Donna) just looked up to him and gushed about how fantastic he was and never bothered to slap some sense into him because they thought he was so perfect, and could never see when he was going to far.
River does that.

And you are so right. Rose is such a chav, and though it was kind of awesome (in a sort of half-good, half-bad kind of way) to have white trash as the main companion for a while, it got old REALLY quickly. I actually kind of despise her.
I just keep finding more people who think the same things that I do and it's just so good.

I KNOW but I love and hate it simultaneously, because I always get hate for shipping River with the Doctor and not Rose. Oh well. Haters gonna hate.

But I just wanted to say that no, the reason I don't ship the Doctor with anyone is because I just got so sick of the shipping wars.
I used to ship the Doctor with Rose but after getting annoyed with both sides I just said "fuck it. I support the Doctor being single, because honestly this is silly".
Not that I think you can't ship the Doctor and River, it's just I got so fed up with it all. The shipping wars really took all the fun out of shipping the Doctor and Rose for me *le sigh*
That is a VERY sensible reason and I totally respect that. Shipping wars just wreck everything tbh. The reason I stopped shipping Rose/Doctor WAS because I got so much hate for shipping the other ship. :/
Oh no, I'm not offended! I think you're extremely clever staying out of this shipping business. And to be fair, the Doctor kind of needs to be single sometimes, because relationships with him are so complicated and they really need to be well written if you wanna pull it off.
